BlackBerry OS 5 Bug Fixes

With the release of the Storm2 and the official release of OS 5.0 for the Storm[1] I – as well as every theme developer out there – have received numerous emails about themes being broken on customers phones. Unfortunately, we as theme developers are trying our best to think outside the box and come up with new ways to “fix” the issues at hand. Sadly, until RIM deems it necessary to release an updated Plazmic Theme Builder that’s all we have to work with … temporary patches/fixes.

There are few tips/tricks that Storm owners can do to help combat the Storm PS 5.0 bug for the time being.

Method #1:

This issue can be resolved, as posted on crackberry.com forums by wiseguy77:
“step1: obviously load the theme step2: do not use the theme wall paper change it! this is where the issue lies. step3: after changing your wall paper to something other than the theme default go to options>themes>open the little blue box to the right of the active theme. now select the layou option and change the row settings from 2 rows to one row then back to two with out leaving the theme screen, and wala your theme will not longer show the white borders when in landscape mode only bummer is that you have to repeat step 3 each time you change themes or reboot you phone as long as the wallpaper is not the theme default i guarantee you this will work.”

Method #2:

1. In landscape mode, hit blackberry button, select options and change wallpaper from the theme default
2. Back in options, select layout, change to Today mode, save and close out.
3. Go back to options, select layout and change back to 2 rows.

Theme should now work properly until next reboot.

If anyone has any additional fixes that work, please drop a comment below and I’ll get it added to the list.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Once a new theme builder is released, I will be updating my themes to make them compatible and remember ALL UPGRADES ARE FREE!!

  I have a Curve 8330 with 5.0.0.438, Theme Builder thinks that the 8330 is still running 4.5, so I can’t change the pone hotlist. they need to fix this issue.

  good man

  I’ve tried those two methods but instead of my theme being fix, my background theme turns into white!!! could u give me more tips?? beside that, if I press menu button my theme in portrait mode have full screen with 4 row layout but after I access whatever, like clock, media, etc and I push back button again, the layout is cropped into just 3 row..could u explain what happened to my storm or theme?? thanks a lot..

  beside that, I’ve used this theme when my OS is 4.7 and nothing happened, everything is fine. After I upgrade my OS to OS 5.0, this theme problems come as I told in my previous comment..and I don’t know what I’ve to do..maybe if you can help me, I’d really appreciate it..
